LA Galaxy's Beckham eyeing third title in three countries

LA Galaxy star David Beckham is on the verge of winning his third league title in three countries, which would make him just the second Englishman to complete the feat. The 35-year old has notched up six Premier League titles with Manchester United in England and one with Real Madrid in Spain is just one game away from grabbing a third if the Galaxy can defeat FC Dallas in the final match of the MLS regular season on the weekend.

If the Galaxy can get the desired result (a draw may suffice if second-placed real Salt Lake cannot defeat Colorado Rapids), Beckham will join Steven who won the English First Division title twice with Everton in the mid-1980s as well as a host of Scottish championships with Rangers and one with Marseille in France in the early 1990s.

Beckham is supremely confident that the Galaxy can get the job done this weekend and take out the 2010 Supporter's Shield ion a league that is beginning to gain plenty of recognition.

"I believe we can win the league this year. There has been an improvement since I've come over, for sure. The interest has gone through the roof," he said.

"New stadiums are being built and fans are coming out all the time.

"These are signs of big improvement and there's only more to come. If teams keep bringing top quality players from Europe in, it (MLS) can definitely get up there with some of the biggest leagues in the world."
