LA Galaxy's Arena gutted for injured Gonzalez

LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena fears that Omar Gonzalez could be out for the majority of the 2012 MLS season.

The 23-year old defender suffered knee ligament damage during his first training session whilst on loan with German Bundesliga club FC Nuremberg and is now set to be sidelined for at least six months, which Arena admits is a massive loss, but says it is such a disappointment for the 2011 MLS Defender of the Year.

"It's disappointing," he said. "I'm more disappointed for Omar than I am for my team although, believe me, I am concerned for the Galaxy.

"This was going to be a nice opportunity for Omar, something he wanted to do and we were happy to support him in it. It's a shame because he's a player who was coming into his prime."
