LA Galaxy off-season signing Marcelo Sarvas says he has not arrived at the club to replace the departed Juninho.
30-year Brazilian midfielder Sarvas has joined the MLS Cup winners from Costa Rican outfit LD Alajuelense, as Juninho heads back to parent club Sao Paulo, but he was quick to point out that he is a different player to the 23-year old ace.
"I am here to play my own game. We have different characteristics and I'm hoping to win and make space for myself like Juni did.
"I have to contribute the best way I know how - to hold the ball, make passes, and create situations so we can score goals.""I know Juninho's story here is great - he did good things the years he spent here," Sarvas said. "But I am not here to replace Juninho.
And Sarvas says he is looking forward to forming a successful on-field partnership with Galaxy great David Beckham.
"I played twice against the Galaxy (in the CONCACAF Champions League)," he added. "He makes it easier on you when he has the ball. I think it's preferable to play alongside experienced and quality players like him.""We haven't played together yet," Sarvas said of Beckham. "I trained with him for the first time today and we have to get to know each other.
