LA Galaxy defender DeLaGarza targets MLS Cup return

AJ DeLaGarza says he expects to be fit for this weekend's MLS Cup final.

The LA Galaxy defender missed the second leg of the Western Conference final against Seattle Sounders on Saturday with a hamstring problem but should be available for the December 7 meeting with New England Revolution at the StubHub Center.

"I feel a lot better, will be ready to play this weekend," 32-year old DeLaGarza said on Monday.

"It was just a factor of (the artificial) turf (at CenturyLink Field) and the weather was not good to go out there.

"You saw (Sounders midfielder) Ozzie Alonso had two weeks to prepare for that, and he was still struggling with his hamstring.

"I thought it was smart on our behalf just to get a guy in there who's fresh and ready, and it paid off at the end, and we won."

DeLaGarza was named the Galaxy's Defender of the Year this season after impressing throughout his 32 regular season appearances.
