Everton loanee Landon Donovan is hoping that this season the club can push towards a first FA Cup triumph in 17 years.
The LA Galaxy star played a full 90 minutes as the Toffees progressed to the fifth round with a 2-1 home win over Fulham on Friday night and now he is backing the Merseyside club to go after a first trophy since 1995 which will help get them back into European competition.
"I'm fairly aware what it means to the fans. I hear different things on the radio when I'm listening and talking to the guys and I think it's 1995 since Everton has had any silverware.
"A couple of years ago they had a good run to the final and if we get a chance to do it again it would be great.""I think realistically unless we go on some sort of amazing run in the Premier League it's going to be hard to finish in the top six and get into Europe, so the FA Cup is realistically our last chance at winning something," he told the club's official website. "You could see by our attitude [on Friday] that we wanted to win it.
