Stuart Pearce is expected to name David Beckham in his provisional 35-man squad for the Great Britain Olympic team.
The LA Galaxy veteran has been linked with a call-up to Team GB for this summer's London Games with reports on Friday suggesting he will make the cut for Pearce's second last squad.
Beckham, along with former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand, Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy, are five big names included in the 35 which will be whittled down to 18 by July 6.
Olympic football teams are mainly made up of U23 players but each squad is permitted to have three overage players with Pearce likely to go with experience for Great Britain indicated by the names mentioned.
