Krul thrilled as Norwich beat Spurs in shootout: Big emotion!

Norwich City goalkeeper Tim Krul was the hero by saving two penalties as they beat Tottenham in a shootout after a 1-1 draw to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time in 28 years.

Norwich were on the back foot in the penalty shootout when Kenny McLean's first kick was saved by Michel Vorm, but Erik Lamela hit the crossbar for Spurs with Troy Parrott and Gedson Fernandes seeing their efforts pushed away by Krul.

The Dutch goalkeeper, who took his time to set himself before each kick, sprinted to the opposite side of the ground to celebrate with the 9,000 joyous travelling supporters in the away end.

Spurs' opener seemed a long time ago, going in front after 13 minutes through Jan Vertonghen, as the Belgium defender rose rose highest to powerfully head in from Giovani lo Celso's superb cross.

Having looked like being left frustrated, the Canaries got a deserved equaliser on 78 minutes as Josip Drmic bundled in from close range after Vorm has spilled Kenny McLean's drive.

Krul said in the aftermath: "That's what it's all about, that's why we do the work. When you have down times, this is what you think of. As a little boy you want to save penalties and get your club through. Big emotions today.

"Everyone says I am good at penalties so I knew I'd better start saving some. Me and my coach do our homework, I had them on my bottle, it all happens in a shootout. What a place to do it as well and for 9,000 fans to be here on a Wenesday night.

"Incredible. Maybe this is the turning point, we believe we can stay up."
