Kompany welcomes Manchester derby despite Man City's below par form

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is eager for this weekend's derby against arch enemies Manchester United.

The reigning champions dropped to fourth on the Premier League table in the wake of Monday night's 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace which was their fifth loss in their past seven outings in all competitions.

Sides in such poor form would usually shy away from an enormous derby clash but Kompany is welcoming Sunday's trip to Old Trafford as they look to move back into the top two on the standings.

"A derby is a derby. It doesn't matter what place you are in the league, it's a derby," said the Belgian defender.

"If anything, it's a good moment to go into a derby. I guess the momentum is a little bit with our neighbours at the moment but it's the perfect place for us to go and try to rectify what we've had.

"And we are demanding with ourselves because we have to win."
