Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht kicked off the season with defeat at home to KV Oostende.
The former Manchester City defender selected himself from the start and saw his team take an early lead before eventually losing 1-2.
"Before the match, I felt that this scenario was possible," said the player-manager. “But I remain 100 percent behind the football we believe in.
"But I want to congratulate KV Oostende on the victory. There are so many lessons to be learned from this match for our youngsters.
"Before the match, I actually felt that this scenario was possible. I had also informed the boys about that. But I remain behind them and our philosophy: playing football with guts."
On playing, he insisted: “I've always had a busy life. That is my style. As a player I used to take all my responsibilities. I now also take the wind from the front, for all the youngsters. We keep going on this road."
