Kompany: Dyche a Burnley reference point

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has declared Sean Dyche as a Turf Moor "reference point".

Dyche returns to Burnley tomorrow night with Everton.

"They've been a solid team in the division this year," said Kompany. The fact they are picking up points, it's no different to when we were playing West Ham or Wolves, they're are good teams in this league.

“We just have to make sure we're at our best otherwise you can't do it against these teams.

“From what I've seen of them, I'd be making a big mistake to treat this game any differently to what we've been doing in recent times.

“We've been in games and we have to try everything we can to make sure we get a result on the day."

Kompany added: "I was thinking a little bit about it this week, every club has a longer history but in recent history every club will have a reference point.

"For this club Sean Dyche has been the reference point. I don't think anyone did better than him, but it's no different. There will be someone like this for Everton, you always have to appreciate what everybody has done and the contribution they've done for the club.

“As a manager you're always looking towards the good habits you can retain and build on."
