Defender Kolo Toure has stated that winning the Europa League will salvage Liverpool's disappointing season so far.
Liverpool look unlikely to finish in the top four following a difficult Premier League campaign, while they suffered a disappointing loss in the final of the Capital One Cup to Manchester City on Sunday.
Now the Reds realistically only have the Europa League to play for this season and Toure has urged his teammates to go on and claim triumph in the competition in order to 'save' their season.
Toure was also gunning for revenge on City who the Reds host at Anfield on Wednesday.
The veteran said: "Winning the Europa League can save the season and the Premier League is not done yet.
"Of course we have plenty of games coming. We have another Premier League game which is very important.
"We need to digest this loss and then focus for the game because it will be tough. We can get three points against City. The final showed both sides can win."
