Kolarov says he is not revitalised under Man City boss Guardiola

Aleksandar Kolarov has disagreed with the notion that manager Pep Guardiola has revitalised him this season.

Guardiola has already had a huge impact in his role as manager of City and the Spaniard has brought about a number of interesting changes at the Etihad Stadium so far.

One of the strange tactical decisions Guardiola has made is at times deploying left-back Kolarov in a central defensive position and it has to be said that the Serbian has flourished in his new role.

Many believed that playing in a new position as revitalised Kolarov but the 30-year-old does not quite agree with such an assessment.

Kolarov told the Manchester Evening News: "I don't agree that I am revitalised - I always did my job properly.

"It doesn't matter what the papers are saying, I am doing my job in my seventh year here. That's it.

"On the first day when we came in for pre-season he tried me in that position. Like other players – our full-backs are coming inside – we have to listen to what the manager wants.

"I have never played in that position before. I was a midfielder early in my career. But the first thing is the team and I am glad we won three points. At this club we have to win titles, and it doesn't matter who is going to play, or which position.

"I am enjoying it because we have a lot of possession and I have more of the ball than in the full-back positions. So I am happy to play there."
