Knockaert: If any club deserves promotion to Premier League, it’s Brighton!

Anthony Knockaert was over the moon after guiding Brighton & Hove Albion to the Premier League for the first time ever.

The Seagulls achieved promotion on Monday after beating Wigan Athletic and their star playmaker Knockaert, who won the SkyBet Championship Player of the Year award, felt it a thoroughly deserved achievement for manager Chris Hughton and the club.

"It's amazing and a great feeling,' he told Brighton's official website. "When you're a child, you dream about this.

"We're going to be there next season and we'll enjoy it.

"What a day for everyone at this football club. If anyone deserves it, it's this football club. I'm so buzzing for them."

Brighton find themselves seven points clear of second-placed Newcastle United with three matches remaining, meaning the Championship title is also in sight.

"It would be amazing for us (winning the title), we're one win away and we'll try everything to do it on Friday, and if not Friday, we'll try and do it against Bristol City at home," the former Leicester City man added.

"Some players never get memories like this in their career, so it's amazing for us."
