Jurgen Klopp has stated that he is confident of stopping the exodus of talented players from Liverpool.

A host of quality players such as Fernando Torres, Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso and Luis Suarez have donned the Liverpool jersey over the past few years but in somewhat of a worrying trend, all of the aforementioned stars have left Anfield in search of greener pastures.

Due to Liverpool's lack of success on the pitch, many believe that the Premier League side will continue losing their key players to bigger sides in the future as well but manager Klopp is confident that he will be able to stop the talent drain from Anfield.

Klopp told the Liverpool Echo: "Yes, I think we can do this. It's one of the targets for the coming years.

"There hasn't been a successful team in world football who change their squad every year. You need to need your key players. That's a very important thing.

"You have to create a situation where you are successful. A situation where everyone feels in a good way and we are strong enough and patient enough to keep them together. We say that same squad and consistency creates success.

"But on the other hand if you aren't successful then people will say you need a complete change – that's how people are. That doesn't make much sense."
