Klopp apologises to Liverpool supporters after Everton defeat

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp apologised to supporters after their defeat at Everton last night.

It was the first time Klopp has suffered defeat to the Toffees and Liverpool's first derby defeat in 14 years.

Klopp said, "It's 2-0, the atmosphere, we played like we played. Obviously not the most inspired performance of all times.

“I really feel for the people, I am really sorry for that. That's how it is. People told me so often about the great record, especially before the derby, but you never win here. But we never lost and that feels really different.

“I really apologise for that. It was absolutely unnecessary but it happened. We cannot change it anymore."

Klopp continued: “Now we have to recover because the quickest of all turnarounds is waiting for us. Can imagine it will be a challenge, mentally and physically.

“Physically was clear. If you win a game then the mental turnaround is obviously not a massive problem. But we now have both things to do.

“And probably West Ham is waiting and rubbing their hands and hoping that we come there on one leg. But I will try absolutely everything to make sure we are much more ourselves."
