Klinsmann gives Dempsey all clear as USA push on with WC preparations

USA boss Juergen Klinsmann insists that captain Clint Dempsey is ready to go for the World Cup.

The star attacking midfielder missed the 2-0 international friendly win over Azerbaijan on Tuesday because of s minor groin problem but Klinsmann expects him to be fine when the World Cup comes around next month.

Dempsey stepped up his training this week in a bid to be fully fit and Klinsmann suggests he will be fine for Sunday's friendly with Turkey at Red Bull Arena.

"(Dempsey did) A lot of work yesterday. We kind of made sure he's not going sideways," Klinsmann said.

"That was kind of bothering him and worrying him a little bit. He's all good.

"Today they have an easy day, travel day. So by tomorrow full speed in training. Everything is good."

The US kick off their 2014 World Cup Group G campaign against Ghana in Natal on June 16 before meeting European heavyweights Portugal and Germany.
