Klinsmann excited to include Hertha Berlin's Morales in USA squad

Hertha Berlin defender Alfredo Morales has won his first call-up to the USA national team ahead of upcoming friendlies with France and Slovenia.

The 21-year old German-born American-Peruvian has been selected in a 22-man squad for next week's matches and head coach Juergen Klinsmann was delighted to welcome him to the international fold.

"We are excited to introduce Alfredo Morales to the US team," the German tactician said.

"I have spoken with his coach at Hertha Berlin and he is full of compliments. He is on the way to being a starter there, and he can play as either a No. 6 [defensive midfielder] or as a right back."

Morales joined Hertha's youth academy back in 2007 and has recently emerged as a first team option with two substitute appearances in the Bundesliga so far this term.
