King thrilled six Spurs players in England squad

Tottenham captain Ledley King is delighted six Spurs players are in England's initial World Cup squad.

King is pleased that he will be joined by Spurs team-mates Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone, and fellow centre-half Michael Dawson in making a bid for the final 23-man squad.

He told the Spurs website: "I'm looking forward to the training camp and there are six lads from Spurs so I'll be in good company.

"It's a reflection of the season that we've had and there are other Spurs players who could have been involved in the squad had they played more this season.

"It just goes to show we have a great base of English players at this Club. Any player will tell you they dream of playing in the World Cup and so far I've never had the opportunity to do that.

"To be picked in the 30-man squad gives me the opportunity to prove that I deserve to go to South Africa."
