Kilmarnock striker Boyd given Scotland reprieve

Kris Boyd has received his first Scotland call-up in three years after being included in Gordon Strachan's squad for Tuesday's friendly with Norway.

The 30-year old Kilmarnock striker, who has not represented his country since September 2010, has replaced injured Sunderland forward Steven Fletcher in the playing group for the trip to Molde and admitted his delight at being selected again.

"I never gave up hope of playing for my country again and I am grateful to Gordon for giving me that chance," Boyd said.

"I have always felt I can make a contribution at international level and knew that if I kept working hard my chance would come again. Hopefully I can get involved against Norway and show people what I am still capable of at the highest level."
