Kilmarnock's Invincibile frustrated by injury

Kilmarnock midfielder Danny Invincibile can't take a trick when it comes to being called up for the Australian team. The 30-year old has had to withdraw from Pim Verbeek's squad twice recently because of a backside muscle injury but says next time he is called up to represent his nation, he will be ready and raring to go.

"Missing the call-up was frustrating and annoying," he told the Scottish Sun.

"My game is explosive - I can't do flick-overs and nutmegs like Mehdi Taouil and won't pretend that I can - but my gluteal muscles couldn't handle it as they were not being supported and the problem kept recurring.

"It's taken a while for it to start functioning properly but we are getting there, although I still have a way to go before I'm back to 100 per cent fitness.

"Obviously, Australia have qualified for the World Cup and it's a great time to be involved. You want to prove yourself to make the final squad.

"At least I am in the frame. Going to South Africa would be amazing and if I can start playing well for Kilmarnock and scoring goals, who knows?

"The coach is very easy to talk to. He has a lot of respect from the players and he is very honest and straight up.

"He told me there will be scouts watching and if I play well week-in, week-out I'll get my chance. If I don't, I won't.

"It's nice to know that I am in the frame and he is thinking about me.

"The coach said it straight out. He said if I am performing better than one of the other players then I'll get into the squad."
