Kilmarnock boss Paatelainen rues Hearts loss

Kilmarnock manager Mixu Paatelainen was left to rue his side's narrow 2-1 loss to Heart of Midlothian on Tuesday night.

Killie took an early lead through Rui Miguel Marinho but ended up going down to Hearts after a late Stephen Elliott double.

Paatelainen said it was a result that his side did not deserve but was buoyed that they put in a solid shift at Rugby Park.

"I thought we were very unfortunate to lose the game," the Finn said.

"One or two of our players started chasing the game and lost their patience and position and if you do that you will be punished."

And Paatelainen took some consolation from the fact that striker Conor Sammon decided to turn down a move to Scunthorpe United.

"But I am delighted to still have Conor. He's a goalscorer but I didn't think he was right to start the match because of the travelling," he added.

"He came on and had a couple of chances late on but unfortunately didn't score.

"I don't have any fears about other clubs coming in, it can happen or it might not. I can't legislate for what other clubs do.

"There might be offers and if there are we might consider them."
