Melbourne Victory marquee man Harry Kewell has reportedly severed ties with long-term agent Bernie Mandic.
The agent has guided the former Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray attacker since he was a teenager and was the major factor in him getting lucrative deals with the aforementioned clubs as well has his move to the Victory.
Sources close to the split say it actually occurred about two weeks ago and has only put more strain on what is currently happening at the Victory who have won just once in seven league games this season.
Kewell has so far underperformed in the A-League and it has also been reported that he has hired former Argentina international and Fiorentina, Roma and Udinese striker Abel Balbo as his personal coach but Victory managing director Richard Wilson was unsure when quizzed about that.
"It's an unusual one but it's really a matter for Harry at this stage," Wilson told The World Game of Kewell's arrangement with Balbo.
"My understanding is that Harry wants him to be a part of his training programs, regimes and the technical side of things.
"That's fine by the club. We won't stand in any player's way if they want a specific coach, so long as it works in with the existing structures."
