Kewell insists he is fine ahead of World Cup

Harry Kewell says that he is feeling fine less than a week out from the first match of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The Galatasaray star has been struggling this year with an ongoing groin problem that has restricted to just one competitive appearance (coming on as a last-minute sub for his club) but after undergoing some specialist training away from the Socceroos squad, Kewell insists he is almost at full fitness.

"I feel good and I'm very happy," Kewell told the Herald Sun. "About a month ago I probably wasn't in a happy place because it was frustrating, but now I am.

"Everything seems to be fine. We have got a plan and we are sticking to it and it seems to be working.

"I'm not letting anything out because I don't want to get my hopes up and I don't want to get everyone else's hopes up. We're just concentrating on training but at the moment everything's looking good."

Kewell is yet to play any minutes in Australia's three warm-up matches in the past two weeks and is unlikely to start against Germany on Monday but says with good management and smart preparation, he is sure he can play a part when the group stage is under way.

"I don't know [if I'll be doing the full sessions] you'll have to ask the trainers and the physios, they seem to have my schedule all locked up. I don't even know what I'm doing half the time," he added.

"I'm leaving everything in their hands, I've got no say, I'm sick of having a say because I keep doing things that are maybe not right.

"Sometimes I push myself too hard and that's probably my downfall, it's probably why I break down all the time."
