Keane: West Ham captain Rice not good enough; PR helps him

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has issued a scathing appraisal of West Ham United and England star Declan Rice.

The defensive midfielder had an impressive World Cup with England in Qatar in the winter.

However, his club side West Ham are flirting with relegation in the Premier League.

Speaking before the Hammers were beaten 3-1 in the FA Cup round of 16 by Manchester United, Keane said: “He's got to focus on doing well for West Ham this season. I don't think he's been that great this season.

“He's not really kicked on for all the talk about him and all the PR coming out of West Ham about him… I think he needs to do a lot more.

“He doesn't score enough goals and he doesn't get enough assists."

Ian Wright disagreed, but Keane then added: “You disagree? That's good. I hope you disagree with me, because I think I know what I'm talking about - I played in midfield.

“For me he needs to do a lot more. Let's see what he's like now tonight.

“Listen I've been a fan of him, he turns up every week theres talk of him going for big money and going to one of the big clubs and playing in the Champions League he needs to do a lot more. It's as simple as that."
