Keane hopeful Beckham will remain with Galaxy

David Beckham's contract with Los Angeles Galaxy will shortly end but team-mate Robbie Keane is hoping the former England captain will decide to extend his stay for another year. The 36-year-old is a target for Paris St Germain and has yet to make a decision on whether he will stick with the Galaxy or return to European football.

"I've loved playing with David Beckham and hopefully we will continue to play together," said Keane.

"I've played against David over the years and I got a taste of how good he is when he trained with Spurs last winter. But it has been a pleasure to play with him for the Galaxy."

Meanwhile, Keane believes his move to the United States will benefit the Republic of Ireland after playing a key role in helping his national team qualify for Euro 2012.

"The move is going to benefit Ireland," he said. "I'm fresher and fitter and enjoying the lack of pressure you get playing in England.

"Technically, MLS is not as good as the Premier League but the Premier League is the best in the world."
