Juventus striker David Trezeguet says it's the right decision to undergo knee surgery.
Trezeguet will go under the knife to correct a knee tendon problem and explained to L'Equipe: "An operation is the best thing to do.
"I could wait a little longer, but there is the serious risk I could break the tendon, just like what happened to Ronaldo.
"Quite frankly, I really don't want to end up like that."
He added: "It is true I'll miss four months of this season, but with the surgery I could extend my career by five or six years.
"I hope to be back to 100 per cent fitness for the final months of the season, when we should still be challenging for the Champions League, Coppa Italia and Serie A."
