Juventus are ready to offer Jean-Alain Boumsong to Aston Villa to land Olof Mellberg in January.
Tuttosport says with Roma and AC Milan also chasing the Sweden international, Juve hope to use Boumsong as a carrot to convince Villa to sell Mellberg when the market reopens.
The Villa defender is off contract in June.
