Juventus keeper Buffon happy to deny Ribery amazing goal

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon was happy to deny Franck Ribery his 'goal of the century' after last night's 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich.

"If we had won, it would be a great result. At the end of the day Bayern tried more as they were on home turf, but we muzzled them pretty well and had our chances too," said the goalkeeper.

"If I have to compare this to the game against Bologna, I was very worried to begin with, but we gave a good account of ourselves and a sign of unity.

"Bayern attacked vehemently at times, but we were solid and didn't give them an inch."

Ribery had the best chance for the Germans, skipping between Giorgio Chiellini and Zdenek Grygera to chip over from seven yards.

"He had a great move to get between the defenders, something that was worth the ticket price alone," grinned Buffon.

"He was one-on-one with me and instead of hitting it low, he tried to score the goal of the century, but I'm tall and so he had to chip it higher and went over the bar."
