Juventus keeper Buffon feels Italy have now recovered from World Cup nightmare

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon is proud to have helped Italy qualify for next year's European Championships.

Italy's 1-0 victory over Slovenia secured their Euro 2012 ticket.

"We went against our traditions, as Italy usually suffer to the final game before qualifying, but this certainly gives us a lot of belief and enthusiasm," said the goalkeeper.

"Rising so quickly from the ashes of the 2010 World Cup was better than anyone could've hoped for."

The 1-0 victory over Slovenia was achieved only in the final minutes when Giampaolo Pazzini netted with help from Mario Balotelli.

"It was a tough test against a Slovenia side that focused more on defending than playing the game, so if you don't break the deadlock then it can lead to problems.

"Balotelli and Pazzini came on with their determination and grit, allowing us to win. This proves the squad has only one objective and that is the common good."
