Juventus are encouraged by developments at Liverpool surrounding Glen Johnson.
England international Johnson is aware of Juve's interest and also the prospect of Rafa Benitez's Inter Milan coming in for him in January.
Turin sources say Juve are positive about doing business with Liverpool after learning of their move for experienced Rennes right-back Rod Fanni.
Fanni would arrive as a direct replacement for Johnson, who will attract a bid of £12 million from Juve next month.
The only stumbling block will be Johnson's wages, which would smash Juve's salary ceiling.
