Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro will retire from international football after the World Cup.

The Italy captain won the World and European Player of the Year after lifting the trophy in Berlin in July 2006, but turns 37 in September.

"Will I continue to be the Azzurri captain after the tournament in South Africa?" he was asked.

"They already say I'm too old now, imagine what they'll think in August!"
