Juventus coach Ranieri beams after Roma victory

Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri was delighted after their superb 2-0 victory over Roma.

Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Marchionni struck for Juve and Ranieri beamed: "It was darkness a while back because it was too early, but I am starting to see a few rays of sunshine.

"I don't know if this was the best performance of the season. At the start we were doing very well and had won the Champions League preliminary round comfortably.

"We had a bit of a dip, perhaps some of it psychological, but now we have found our rhythm again and can recover more easily from one match to the next."

The tactician singled out praise for Cristian Molinaro, Marchionni, Zdenek Grygera and Tiago Mendes.

"I would above all like to underline Tiago's superb performance, as in midfield he managed to get the whole team moving.

"When we are all able to remain compact like we were tonight, then we put in great performances. I must say, though, that in the opening 20 minutes we were a little distracted on long balls in and have to work on that."
