Joselu excited to make Real Madrid return: I'm not here to replace Benzema

Joselu is excited to have returned to Real Madrid.

At the age of 33, the Espanyol striker has signed with Real on a season-long loan for the 2023/24 campaign.

It marks a return to Real for the former Castilla centre-forward.

He said at today's presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu: "Today may be one of the happiest days of my life. Asking my wife and children for forgiveness. I always dreamed of coming back. I am very proud to have the opportunity in this great club.

"I am not coming to replace anyone. I come to do my bit and enjoy. Everyone knows the level Karim (Benzema) has given.

"I am a more physical player and I like to be in the area a lot. The experience of being in Premier and La Liga has made me grow as a footballer. At the number level I have been among the best at the national level and I want to convey that here.

"I come to help and contribute everything I have learned. I'm not the one to say if more people are coming or not. I already want to start. I will be available to the coach.

"I haven't spoken to Carlo (Ancelotti) yet. I know what Ie could contribute at the group and individual level. I will adapt to what they ask me."
