Chivas USA has appointed Jose Domene as its permanent general manager it has been announced.
Domene has been overseeing the Los Angeles club on an interim basis since December 14 but is now the official GM although the title doesn't really make a difference to the Mexican.
"For a lot of people, titles are important, but for me, it's the same thing," said Domene. "I'll still do the same things, still work as hard. It doesn't mean I'll do the job differently.
"For the ownership of this club, this is a long-term project, and I always thought if I could help and be part of it, so be it. Now that the interim is off, it's one step forward, but we still have a lot of work to do. I'm here to support the project and their vision, and it's a long-term vision."
Chivas owner Jorge Vergara said that Domene's experience of both cultures was a major factor in him being installed in the role.
"He's doing a great job," Vergara said. "He's very capable because he understands both cultures, Mexican and American, the one thing we needed before, and we didn't have it."
