Billy Jones has hailed the character of Sunderland following their 4-2 comeback victory over Darlington 1883 in a pre-season friendly.
Sunderland's pre-season campaign looked like it would get off to a disastrous start after they went two goals down early on against the Northern Premier League club on Thursday.
Recovering from the poor start, the Black Cats put up a spirited performance to go on and claim a 4-2 victory, and following the game, defender Jones has hailed the character shown by his team during the clash.
Jones told the club's official website: "Obviously you want to start pre-season with a win. I made my debut here last year so we knew it was going to be a tough game and knew was going to be competitive.
"We showed a bit of character though to come from 2-0 down and that it exactly what pre-season is for, because you're going to make an error now and then and you need to get them out of your system before the start of the season."
