Sunderland winger Adam Johnson insists an opening day defeat to Fulham is only a blip for Paolo di Canio's new-look team.
Johnson, who has bought into the Italian's mantra, insists Sunderland remain on-track for an improved campaign.
"At least we were having a go, while Fulham didn't look as if they wanted to come at us," said the winger.
"It was smash and grab and that's going to happen with quite a few teams over the course of the season.
"But there's a long way to go and while we're obviously upset and disappointed, there are positives to take because we controlled the game."
