Johnson becomes first Jamaican in China

Ryan Johnson has become the first Jamaican player to sign for a Chinese club.

The 29-year old forward has signed with Chinese Super League outfit Henan Jianye after departing MLS club Portland Timbers at the end of 2013.

Johnson has linked up with Henan following their promotion to China's top flight after last season's China League One title win.

The Kingston-born centre forward has previously played with such clubs as Real Salt Lake, Chicago Fire, Osters IF, San Jose Earthquakes and Toronto FC. He has represented Jamaica on 36 occasions.

Johnson's management company posted the following on Twitter.
