Aron Johannsson scored his 21st goal of the season as AZ Alkmaar beat Vitesse Arnhem 2-0 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Tuesday night.
The 21-year old American striker helped AZ opened the scoring in the 20th minute at the GelreDome when his cross was turned in by Vitesse's Chelsea loanee Patrick van Aanholt.
He then added a second late in the first half when skilfully chipping opposing keeper Piet Velthuizen from 18 yards.
Johannsson, who has now scored 13 league goals this campaign, was forced at half-time because of a thigh injury.
The victory saw Alkmaar move up to sixth on the Dutch table, 11 points from leaders Ajax.
