Joaquin is delighted with his new deal at Real Betis.

The 38 year-old has penned a new contract to 2021 and enjoyed a signing ceremony on Monday.

"I've been trying not to get emotional, I've been doing breathing exercises," he said at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. "You don't get used to this.

"I owe everything to these colours, to the family that is Real Betis.

"I've always felt this special thing and I don't deserve such adoration from all the Real Betis fans.

"I try to be just one more player, both on and off the pitch.

"I do try to be the first to work and to help my teammates.

"I try to enjoy each day because I know that I have less and less time left given that I'm 38 years of age.

"It'll be difficult to find the moment to say goodbye, even if I don't want to stay longer than I should.

"I still feel good and I'm still competing well.

"Since I'm still enjoying it, I told myself 'Joaquin, keep going because you have some years left'."
