Jewell convinced Liverpool and Everton can bring double Scouse success

Former Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell is delighted seeing Liverpool and Everton competing for success this season.

Jewell, a former Liverpool striker, says it's a great time to be on Merseyside.

"Can Liverpool win it? They certainly can," Jewell told the Daily Star, "Saturday's [game against Manchester City] is going to be a big game but what a brilliant season Liverpool have had.

"Everton have as well, the quality of football and the freedom which they've played with this season has been nothing short of sensational.

"Roberto Martinez is doing a super job. I think Roberto will tell you that he's inherited a very, very good team from David Moyes but he's added [Romelu] Lukaku, [Gareth] Barry and one or two other players to that.

"I think Roberto would be the first one to say David Moyes has set the foundations. Roberto has come in and just moved it along a bit more.

"Everton can get the Champions League. I think it would be great for Merseyside if the two teams could be in the Champions League with Liverpool winning the league and Everton finishing fourth."
