Newcastle Jets defender Adam Griffiths has denied he's put pen to paper on a deal with Gold Coast United. "I haven't signed anything, and I'm just concentrating on playing for Newcastle at the moment," he told The Herald last night.
"I have spoken with them [Gold Coast] but nothing has eventuated at all.
"I'm not doing anything until after Christmas, and I don't know where these people get their information from.
"They just write it and then the next thing it's fact.
"I think that guy [the reporter] tried to call me yesterday, on Sunday, and I said I was busy because I was actually at my nephew's birthday party.
"He didn't talk to me, so I don't know where he's getting his information from."
Jets director of football Remo Nogarotto said he first heard the Gold Coast rumour two weeks ago and spoke with Griffiths.
"The lad has been asked on numerous occasions whether it is the case or not, and he steadfastly refuses to confirm that's the case," Nogarotto said.
"We have put a fresh offer on the table to him and, at the end of the day, we have played with an open hand on this matter, and we can only take the boy at face value."
