Jetro Willems' hopes of returning to Newcastle United are now slim.
The Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back had his loan with Newcastle cut short after suffering a knee injury.
And BILD says the injury is so bad that it is likely to rule him out for at least the rest of the year.
The diagnosis of setback the wing-back suffered was an "anterior and posterior cruciate ligament torn, with cartilage damage".
Eintracht team doctor Florian Pfab is said to have confirmed the injury - and ruled the Dutchman out for 8 to 9 months.
