Jetro Willems eager to return to Newcastle

Jetro Willems is eager to return to Newcastle United this summer.

The Evening Chronicle says the Dutchman has just one year left on his deal with Eintracht Frankfurt but would be allowed to leave this summer by the German club.

After suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in January, the former PSV Eindhoven star's loan spell was curtailed early on Tyneside.

But he has fought back to fitness and is close to full contact training again.

Asked by the club's TV channel if he was open to a return to United, Willems said: "Of course. It was sad that it ended like that. I feel like I'm not done yet.

"So we will see, you never know what will happen and it would be great to be back and show them at St James' Park."

And reflecting on his current fitness levels, Willems went on: "It is going well and progressing every week and everyday so I'm busy with it.

"I'm back on the pitch and doing almost everything. Soon I'll be back with the team."
