Japan boss Alberto Zaccheroni says his side has plenty of hard work to do prior to the 2014 World Cup.
The best side in Asia were easily beaten 4-2 by Uruguay in a friendly at the Miyagi Stadium in Rifu on Wednesday which educated Zaccheroni on just how far behind the world's best his Blue Samurai are.
"You have to give credit to Uruguay," Zaccheroni told reporters. "They are one of the best teams in the world.
"They showed that again by reaching the Confederations Cup semi-finals this year.
"We haven't learned our lessons from then (when losing all three group stage matches). There is still a lot to work on before the World Cup."
Diego Forlan netted a double whilst Luis Suarez and Alvaro Gonzalez were on target for Uruguay whilst Shinji Kagawa and Keisuke Honda hit the back of the net for Japan.
