The fourth round of Asian qualifying for the 2014 World Cup has been completed with four teams taking their spots in Brazil.
Japan secured the first position in the finals, other than hosts Brazil, when they drew 1-1 with Australia on June 4 whilst the Socceroos grabbed the second spot by finishing as Group B runners-up thanks to Tuesday's last-gasp 1-0 triumph over Iraq.
Josh Kennedy headed home an 83rd-minute winner as Holger Osieck's side finished on 13 points with a flourish thanks to the Japan draw, a 4-0 win over Jordan last week and the Iraq victory from their final three matches.
In Group A, Iran beat South Korea 1-0 in Ulsan to take top spot over the Taeguk Warriors who held onto second by the narrowest of margins from Uzbekistan.
The Uzbeks hammered Qatar 5-1 to finish on equal points with South Korea but were forced into third by virtue of goal difference which was one in arrears of a top-two spot.
With Asia being handed 4.5 positions in the World Cup, a playoff between the two third-placed sides will take place, with the eventual winner meeting the fifth-place team from CONMEBOL (South America) which is currently Uruguay.
Jordan finished third in Group B thanks to a 1-0 win over Oman meaning they will face Uzbekistan in the two-legged playoff which kicks off on September 6 and finishes four days later.
