Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse is delighted to be with a club which gives it's youngsters their chance.
The 18 year-old has been involved with the Saints first team for two years.
"Most managers at most clubs buy in big players and then academy boys are sort of bombed out but we know there is that pathway for us," he told the Daily Mail. "We work hard to get there. There are an abundance of players who are coming through and hoping to play for the first team.
"It's difficult when a player comes in for big money. Obviously the chairman's brought in a £12m signing so immediately you know it's going to be tough.
"But that's going to happen in football, there's always competition for places. It's just a case of how you deal with it. Thankfully I've dealt with it well and hopefully I can push on."
