James Shan named new West Brom U21 coach

James Shan has been named new West Bromwich Albion U21 coach.

Shan steps up from his previous role as Under-18 Lead Development Phase Coach to take over the reins from David Oldfield, who left for MK Dons last month.

He has helped develop players such as Saido Berahino, Liam O'Neil, George Thorne, Chris Wood and Isaiah Brown.

Albion Technical Director Terry Burton said: "James was the obvious choice to fill the role.

"He knows the players well having worked with them and helped progress them over the years.

"He now faces the challenge of working directly with our elite Development Squad players as they bid to break onto the first-team scene."

Aaron Danks will take over as Under-18 Lead Development Phase Coach after also climbing the coaching ladder with the Baggies.

The 31-year-old joined Albion as Under-12s coach in 2006.
