James Rodriguez admits Cristiano Ronaldo was a big influence on his move to Real Madrid.

The former AS Monaco midfielder became friends with Ronaldo before the end of last season.

"I spoke with Cristiano. I've been talking with him for a while. He is an excellent person and a great player," said James.

"The last time I spoke with him was before Madrid played against Bayern Munich. We talked a little. He said 'good luck' for the World Cup."
