The 28 year old has agreed a one-year contract at Goodison Park on Monday after negotiating his release from German club Nurnberg at the end of last season.
"I'm very happy and very relieved it ended up like this because this was the best solution," Jacobsen told the Liverpool Echo. "It was very good that we kept calm, it's been worth the wait.
"I met David Moyes and the players. Everton are a big club and it's a fantastic opportunity for me which I couldn't say no to.
"I'm satisfied with the one-year deal and we have the possibility to look at another one.
"It was the Premier League where I wanted to be. Everton know what they are getting, they have seen me in a lot of matches, it's up to me now."
