Jack Rodwell could see action for Watford on Tuesday.

The Mirror says Rodwell hopes to be thrown a career lifeline by Watford.

The Hornets are running the rule over free agent Rodwell during their pre-season training camp in Austria. Rodwell, 27, is on on trial as the ex-Sunderland midfielder bids to win a contract.

Watford - who have signed six players this summer - could give Rodwell a run-out in Tuesday's friendly with FC Koln.
